Start with lender authorization
A borrower’s willingness to surrender a vehicle does not replace the lender’s assignment. Identify the secured creditor, provide the relevant vehicle and account details, and name the lender contact responsible for approving pickup.
A borrower who wants to return a vehicle should first contact the lender to confirm the arrangement. We do not decide whether a return settles the account, changes the balance, or changes the loan agreement. Those questions belong with the lender.
Agree on a practical handoff
- Confirm a specific pickup address and the person expected to be present.
- Describe the vehicle and provide its VIN.
- State whether keys are available and whether the vehicle can be moved normally.
- Identify a contact for appointment changes or a cancelled surrender.
- Tell us about access restrictions or known conditions that may affect loading.
Document the vehicle and belongings
The condition of the vehicle should be recorded when it is received, with keys and personal items handled as part of the handoff. Ask the borrower to discuss personal belongings with the lender before the appointment so there is a clear plan.
An agreed surrender can become an unsuccessful appointment if the vehicle is absent, access is unavailable, or the person changes their mind. Our field approach remains to avoid confrontation and seek updated lender instructions.
Give instructions for the next stage
Tell us whether the lender wants the vehicle stored or sent to another approved location after pickup. A voluntary return does not automatically determine its final destination.
Send an initial request through the contact page, with the appointment status and lender contact noted. Complete assignment documents are still needed before the pickup can proceed.
